UK: Lake District

June 2006, with car from Liverpool, Low Wood Hotel

This hotel was expencive, but it was fantastic. We got a very spacious room with both shower and bubble-bath! The food was very good. I never tried the SPA or the swimmingpool, but it looked nice.

Lake District is rural and... in the middle of nowhere... , but it's calm and quite and full of tourists... :) As we had a car we drove around, but I am sure there was a bus going to the most "touristic" places. I went to Bowness, a small village, to get a warmer jacket, as I had forgotten to pack one. I found a little shop and bought some cashmere cardigans. The other people were impressed and one said: "Oh, you amaze me, you managed to shop in the middle of nowhere!" :)

We could walk to Ambleside and we ate at a nice Indian restaurant. I can't remember where it was or the name...

A boat-trip is essencial when you visit Lake District and we had one too. Unfortunately it was too windy to sit outside, but we had a nice view from the windows!

I am not very into William Wordsworth, but we visited his home and gardens.
