UK: London

At least twice a year: KLM, SAS, Norwegian (whatever as long as it goes to London)

I have visitied lots of hotels in London and I am not sure if I can remember all, but I can try.

Radisson Kenilworth, summer 2002 (?)
An excellent hotel near Brittish museum. Close to Oxford Street but a little bit far away from Selfridges, Regent Street, Bond Street and Piccadilly, but walking distance (if you don't have nice shoes which are not nice on the feet! :-))

Kensington Close, summer 2003 (?)
A 3-star hotel close to High Street Kensington tube station. (I think they must have refurbished the hotel, resently I saw it's been upgraded to a 4-star.) The hotel is ok, not fancy, but clean and ok. There is an excellent Thai-restaurant in the street from the hotel to the tube station, at the left side. (If it's still there...:-)) It will take you about 45 min. to walk to Harrods and Harvey Nicols and about 12 pound to take a taxi, I tried both and prefer the last one... :-D No breakfast here, but lots of cafes in the area. Kensington High street has the same shops as Oxford Street, but the area is much more quite. More comfortable.

Flemings Mayfair, spring 2004
A very nice hotel. We had a CD-player with classic music at the room. The bathroom was great and I got lots of small bottles with Molton Brown soaps, shampoos, creems etc... The hotel has an excellent location, very close to Green Park and 7 minutes walk to Bond Street and Piccadilly Circus. The breakfast was wonderful. I would highly recommend this hotel, if you get a good rate, it's not worth it if you have to pay 250 pound....

St Georges, autumn 2004
Will never stay there again.... It was a 4-star, but I would say 2+ or 3. I don't know why I didn't like it, but I didn't.... Close to Brittish Museum, but too far away from "my" streets. However the district has lots of small and "cosy" cafees and restaurants.

Washington Mayfair summer 2005
Nice hotel with a nice location (very close to Flemings Mayfair). 4-Star. We didn't have breakfast here, but there were a Cafe Nero opposite the hotel.

Jurys Inn Kensington, autumn 2005
4-star hotel. The family rooms are huge, two double beds. I really liked this hotel. No breakfast here either, but lots of cafes close to the hotel.

The Gloucester Place Hotel, spring 2006
NEVER go there! The room was big, so big that they must have had problems with the cleaning... Everything looked dirty at the room, so did the breakfast. Some days after we came back from this hotel, our son got a rash, and we all got it... We went to the doctor and he said it was BEDBUGS! We had to get a company to "spray" the house with some kind of chemical... Disgusting!

The Royal Horseguard, winter 2007
A nice 4-star hotel with a very nice location. Close to River Thames and just 50 meters to the nearest tube-station. The breakfast was excellent. I am thinking of staying at this hotel next time I am going to London, in September.

What can I say about London? It's one of my favorite cities. You can get everything here. Shopping, sight-seeing, museums, "wining and dining" theaters etc... You get highstreet-fashion (not for me...) and you get designer-shops. All the designer-shops are in Bond Street and New Bond Street. I was introduced to my favorite designer in London, Salvatore Ferragamo. Actually I was quing for 2 hours to get a pair of shoes on sale... :-) The sale in London is the best. The sale starts in beginning of July and in the beginning of January. If you can't go for the sale, you shoud take the train to Bicester Outlet Village. It takes an hour to get there and it costs about 40 pound. BUT it's worth it, absolutly! You get Ferragamo, Burberry, Hobbs, Mexx, Chanel etc... It's heaven for a shoppaholic...

I can't remember all the places I have been for dinner, but my husband has a favorite place, an Indonesian restaurant called Melati. It's in 21 Great Windmill Street.
